Wangaratta Magistrates Court

The Wangaratta Magistrates Court is located at 24 Faithfull Street, Wangaratta. The Magistrates' Court is the court where all criminal matters involving adults commence. It is also the court that hears summary criminal matters, including traffic offences, and domestic violence order applications. While the Wangaratta Magistrates Court deals with criminal matters where the accused is aged 18 or older, it also deals with civil matters and intervention order matters on certain days.

If you have a matter in the Wangaratta Magistrates Court, make sure you arrive at court well before the time your matter is listed to be heard. You should be neatly and conservatively dressed, and you should come prepared to be at court for most of the day.

The court is located next door to Centrelink. There is limited on-street parking in front of and around the court, as well as a multi-level car park located across the road at the Co Store Shopping Mall.

When you arrive at the Wangaratta Magistrates Court, you will need to pass through security, and this will usually require that you remove any items from your pocket and place them in a tray to be scanned through by security. You will then need to approach the court registry on the bottom floor and make it known that you are in court. If you are represented on the day, your solicitor will usually advise the court registry of their appearance on your behalf and direct you as to where to go. If you are not represented, the court registrar will advise you which courtroom your matter will be heard in by searching the list and direct you to it.
