Stanthorpe Magistrates Court

Stanthorpe Magistrates Court is located at 51 Marsh Street, Stanthorpe. The Queensland Department of Transport and Queensland Government Agent Program (QGAP) offices are also located in the same building.

The Stanthorpe Magistrates Court deals with summary criminal matters and traffic matters involving adults. The District Court, which finalises serious indictable criminal matters, does not sit at Stanthorpe. Stanthorpe is a rural court and does not have the same high volume of work as the Brisbane or Southport Magistrates Courts. If you are required to appear at this court, you should arrive no later than 8:30 AM as this court typically starts and finishes earlier than many other courts. The court does not sit every day and therefore you should consult its calendar, which lists which days the court is sitting and what matters it will deal with on those days.

The Stanthorpe Magistrates Court allows appearances by telephone in some cases, which must be organised in advance with the approval of the court. However, if you are required to appear before this court you should make plans to attend in person. We encourage you to seek legal advice before making arrangements to appear by telephone.
