Leeton Local Court

The Leeton Local Court is located on Church Street, between Ash Street and Oak Street and opposite the corner with Wade Avenue. The Local court is the court where all criminal matters commence. It will hear cases about all kinds of criminal and traffic offences, including Assault, Domestic Violence, Drink Driving, and Apprehended Domestic Violence Order applications.

The Leeton Local Court sits as the Leeton Children’s Court when dealing with criminal matters where the accused is under 18. These are held in the same room as the Local Court but are conducted in closed court, meaning that anyone not connected with the case will be asked to leave the room while the matter is heard.

The District Court of New South Wales, which finalises serious indictable matters, does not sit at Leeton. If you have a District Court matter arising from the Leeton area, you should expect it to be finalised at Griffith.

If you have a matter before the Leeton Local court, make sure you arrive well before the time the matter is listed. You should be neatly and conservatively dressed and you should come prepared to be at court for several hours. The court list is held by a registrar, who will circulate outside the courtroom before court begins and ask people to check in.
