Holbrook Local Court

The Holbrook Local Court is located at 64 Albury Street, the main street of Holbrook, between Hay Street and Murray Street. The Local Court is the court where all criminal matters commence. It will hear cases about all kinds of criminal and traffic offenses, including Assaults, Domestic Violence, Drinking Driving, and Apprehended Domestic Violence Order applications. The Holbrook Local Court sits as the Holbrook Children’s Court when dealing with criminal matters where the accused is under 18. These are held in the same room as the Local Court but are conducted in closed court, meaning that anyone not connected with the case will be asked to leave while the Children’s Court is sitting. The District Court of New South Wales, which finalises serious indictable criminal matters does not sit at Holbrook. If you are facing a more serious charge from the Holbrook area, you should expect it to be finalised at Albury or Wagga Wagga. If you have a matter before Holbrook Local Court, make sure you arrive well before the time the matter is listed. You should be neatly and conservatively dressed, and you should come prepared to be at court for several hours. The court list is held by a registrar who will circulate outside the courtroom before court begins and ask people to check in.
