Forbes Local Court

The Forbes Local Court faces Victoria Park and is formally located at 4 Victoria Lane in Forbes. The Local Court is the court where all criminal matters commence. It will hear cases about all kinds of criminal and traffic offenses, including Assaults, Domestic Violence, Drink Driving and Apprehended Domestic Violence Order applications.

The Forbes Local Court sits as the Forbes Children’s Court for criminal matters where the accused is under 18. These are held in the same room as the Local Court, but anyone not connected with the case will be asked to leave when the court is sitting as the Children’s Court.

The District Court of NSW, which deals with serious indictable criminal matters, does not sit at Forbes. If you have a District Court matter arising from the Forbes area, you should expect it to be finalised at Parkes.

If you have a matter before the Forbes Local Court, make sure you arrive well before the time the matter is listed. You should be neatly and conservatively dressed, and you should come prepared to be at court for several hours. The court list is held by a registrar, who will circulate outside the courtroom before court begins, and ask people to check in.
