Batemans Bay Local Court

The Batemans Bay Local Court is located at 24 Orient Street, Batemans Bay, opposite the Mariners on the Waterfront Hotel, and next to the police station, near the corner with Beach Road. The District Court and Supreme Court do not sit at Batemans Bay, so if you are facing a more serious charge arising from the Bay area you should expect it to be transferred to Nowra, after initial appearances in the Local Court at the Bay.

The Local court is the court where all criminal matters commence. It will hear cases about all kinds of criminal and traffic offences, including Assault, Domestic Violence, Drink Driving, and Apprehended Domestic Violence Order applications. The Batemans Bay Local Court sits as the Batemans Bay Children’s Court for matters involving people under the age of 18. These are held in the same room as the Local Court, but anyone not connected with the case will be asked to leave when the court is sitting as the Children’s Court.

If you have a matter before the Batemans Bay Local Court, make sure you arrive well before the time your matter is listed. You should be neatly and conservatively dressed and you should come prepared to be at court for several hours.
