Armidale Local Court

Armidale is a city in the Northern Tablelands of New South Wales, inland between Sydney and Brisbane. Transport from out of town is possible by train, plane or car. Though the original Armidale Courthouse in Beardy Street was built in the 1850s, a more modern Court House has since been built and is now used.

The Armidale Courts are located at 5 Moore Street, Armidale. The Armidale Courts sit as the Local Court which is where all criminal matters in New South Wales commence. The Local court is the court where all criminal matters commence. It will hear cases about all kinds of criminal and traffic offences, including Assault, Domestic Violence, Drink Driving, and Apprehended Domestic Violence Order applications.

Criminal matters where the accused is under 18 are dealt with in the Children’s Court.

The Armidale Courthouse has a Registry that is open between the hours of 9:00 am and 1:00 pm, and 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The Local Court telephone number is 1300 679 272, with telephone hours between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm.

If you have a matter at the Armidale Courts, make sure you arrive at court well before the time your matter is listed to be heard. You should be neatly and conservatively dressed, and you should be prepared to be at court for most of the day.

The Armidale Courthouse is located next to Armidale Plaza, with parking options in the Armidale Plaza car park between Dumaresq Street and Moore Street. However, if you are attending court for traffic offences for which the court may impose a licence disqualification period, you mustn't drive to court.
